Our Mental Health During Covid

Dear Friends,

Today my blog is all about Mental health. I have some family members that have recently been affected by the isolation that this COVID pandemic has produced. With us human beings needing and craving human touch, we desire the warmth of a hug, the smile of a friend, and the gathering of a group of friends. We cannot help but lose some of that happy hormone or natural serotonin that we are used to having when we are neglecting that small but essential human necessity.

So, What can we do to help this sadness we feel?? I am soo glad you asked!! Take care of yourself whether you are working inside or outside If school and work are all from your computer it can bring you down. Know this and prepare for this….take breaks and go outside for a short time. Go for a swim, a hike, anything to get out throughout the day.

Maybe you can give yourself a facial….or better yet come into my spa and let me treat you to one of our amazing facial spa treatments! Some things that help give me a boost is to put some makeup on, call a friend or family member, go for a drive, or I just grab some takeout then eat outside at a park. Vitamin D from the sun does my soul good.

Lastly, ensure you take care of your insides. Proper nutrition helps to maintain homeostasis (equilibrium) in your body...such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein, and good fats. Your brain functions on good fats. Keeping fats at a healthy portion will keep your brain functioning at its peak and therefore may curb off depression.

BUT, if you are having suicidal thoughts, or thoughts of hurting yourself please DO NOT hesitate to call the National Suicide Hotline! PLEASE! Everyone has someone….even if that someone is at the end of this hotline!!
